Heiko Stumbeck - the man behind

The Opticians, designer and entrepreneur Heiko Stumbeck was born

in Bavaria, southern Germany, in 1942.

During his training to become an optician at Fachschule für Augen-

optik in Bern, Switzerland, Heiko was warned to thoroughness that

has followed him in all aspects of his work:

No screw or a Spectacled rod was allowed to be

loose. The Opticians had to melt beeswax into the

hinge to ensure that it is neither too tight or too

lax. The person who made the glasses was never

allowed to check them afterwards.

In 1965 Heiko Stumbeck travelled to Denmark where he opened his

first Optician in 1974. Because of his big interest in design he began

to design and produce spectacle frames himself.

Today Heiko Stumbeck is the owner of 10 stores in four different

countries, and Heiko by Heiko is a popular fashion brand that

combines boldness and refinement with durability and functionality.
